Viewers who tune in for tonight's ITV1 show will seemingly learn the fate of Cher Lloyd, Matt Cardle, Storm Lee and co after the judges' houses stage of the talent contest.
Simon Cowell is planning an X Factor surprise (PA)
According to the Daily Star, fans shouldn't worry too much if their favourite doesn't make the final 12, as it will not necessarily mean they are out.

Apparently, the 20 contestants will be invited to the first live show and Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue will be given the opportunity to choose one 'wild card' act each to re-enter the competition.

An X Factor source said Simon has been keen to spice up the format with 'wild card' finalists for several years and that he has now decided to implement what he expects to be a ratings-winning twist.
.'This is a major shake-up for the show and it's bound to upset the original 12 acts who were chosen at judges' houses,' they said.

'Cheryl's favourite' Cher Lloyd makes it through to the X Factor live shows despite sore throat and nerves

Her audition was Cheryl Cole's favourite of the series.
And it seems that first impressions really do count, after Cher Lloyd won a place in The X Factor's live shows - even though she struggled to sing a single note in her latest performance.
Of course for many it was bad news, including an early favourite. It was a 'no' from Cheryl for Zimbabwean singer Gamu Nhengu, who had won many fans with her quirky singing style.
And Cheryl admitted that putting Cher through to the next stage was one of the 'hardest decisions' she had made on the show, as the 17-year-old was overcome with tears during the judges' houses stage of the competition.

Has bookies' favourite Cher ruined her chances? Teen suffers throat infection at crucial moment on X Factor

She is without doubt the bookies' favourites to win this year's X Factor.
But a throat infection could have cost Cher Lloyd as the heartbroken chart hopeful broke down sobbing while performing for Cheryl Cole during the judges' houses stage of the show.
And while many had assumed she would sail through to the live performances, her failure to perform has left her future in doubt.
The 17-year-old began complaining of a sore throat hours before her performance in front of Cheryl and her friend, record producer Will.I.Am and spoke on camera about seeing 'white stuff' on her tonsils.
Barely a few bars into her song, Cher began to break down, speaking the words rather than singing.
Soon the distraught teen had stopped.
A sympathetic Cheryl, who also battled illness during her time on Popstars: The Rivals and has been one of Cher's biggest supporters since her first audition, gave her a hug, dried her tears, and encouraged her to have another go.
But Cher couldn't cope, stopping moments into the song, which saw her far from top form.
'Do you want to come back later?' asked a concerned Cheryl.
But Cher whispered to her idol Cheryl: 'I'm done now, I'm done,' before turning and walking out.
Will.i.am tried to put himself into her shoes.
'Wow, I'm trying.. I'm 16 years old.'
The teen, from Malvern, Worcestershire, has already faced considerable obstacles in her journey to the X Factor.
Her troubled background includes several relatives who have had brushes with the law.
In 2001 one relative was jailed for six years for grevious bodily harm with intent and another admitted actual bodily harm after beating up a woman in the same incident, The People is reporting.
It claims another relative was banned for driving for three years after being caught drink driving. It was apparently his second driving ban in three months.
Cher Lloyd No Longer Has The X Factor According To X Factor Betting Odds

Cher Lloyd was the original X Factor favourite but after suffering a throat infection her performance in front of Cheryl Cole and Will I Am looks to have scuppered the 16 year olds chances of winning the competition.
After being available at 7/2 to win the X Factor betting she is now out to 13/2 with VC Bet and Betfred. She had two chances to get the song right and it now looks like she will not even progress in her category as the competition amongst the girls is so strong. Many viewers would think it unfair if she did make the cut as all the other girl contenders bar one produced faultless performances.
Rebecca Ferguson is now the shortest priced girl in the competition at 9/2 with Bet 365 and Boylesports. She has such a unique voice and was the star of the evening singing a brilliant version of Fireflies. Rebecca is just behind Matt Cardle in the outright betting for the X Factor, Matt is on offer at 3/1 with William Hill.
